Given :-

Bullet train runs in a speed of = 254 3/11 miles/hour

Speed needed to be increased = 315 5/22 miles per hour

To Find :-

The number of miles required by the train to travel more in 1 hour.

Solution :-

We know that,

  • u = Initial velocity
  • v = Final velocity
  • a = Acceleration
  • t = Time

Given that,

initial speed (u) = 254 3/11 mi/h

Final speed (v) = 315 5/22 mi/h

Time (t) = 1 hour

Using the formula,

\underline{\boxed{\sf v=u+at}}

Substituting their values, we get

\implies \sf 315 \ \dfrac{5}{22} =254 \ \dfrac{3}{11} +a \times 1

\implies \sf \dfrac{6935}{22} -\dfrac{2797}{11} =a

\implies \sf a=\dfrac{(6935-5594)}{22}

= \sf a=\dfrac{1341}{22}

Using the formula,

\underline{\boxed{\sf s = ut + \frac{1}{2} \  at^{2} }}

\implies \sf 253 \ \dfrac{3}{11} \times 1 +  \dfrac{1}{2} \times \dfrac{1341}{22} \times 1^{2}

\implies \sf \dfrac{254}{11} +\dfrac{1341}{44}

\sf =\dfrac{254 \times 4+1341}{44}

\sf =53 \ \dfrac{23}{44}

Therefore, 53 23/44 miles required by the train to travel more in 1 hour.
