A bullet travelling with a velocity of 16m/s penetrates a tree trunk and come to rest in 0.4 minutes . Find the time taken during the retardation

u = 16 m/s.

v = 0 m/s.

v = u - at

= > u = at

= > a = u/t

= > a = 16/0.4×60

= > a = 16/24

= > a = 2/3 m/s²

u² = 2 aS

= > S = u²/2a

= > S = 256/4/3

= > S = 64×3

= > S = 192 m

Distance travelled = 192 m.

Time = 0.4 minutes = 24 seconds.

Acceleration = 2/3 m/s².
