Given ,

Initial velocity (u) = 200 m/s

Final velocity (v) = 0 m/s

Displacement (s) = 10 cm or 0.1 m

We know that ,

The Newton's third equation of motion is given by

 \boxed{ \sf{ {(v)}^{2} -  {(u)}^{2}  = 2as }}

Thus ,

(0)² - (200)² = 2 × a × 0.1

-40000 = 2a/10

-400000 = 2a

a = -400000/2

a = -200000 m/s²

The retardation is -200000 m/s²
