EXPLANATION:

.

The distance covered by a bus (s) = 36km

The time taken to cover this distance (t) = 40 mins

Converting time in hours,

t = 40min [1h = 60min ➤ 1min = 1/60 h]

  • ➤ t = 40 × 1/60 h
  • ➤ t = 2/3 h

Finding Speed,

  • Speed = s / t
  • ➤ Speed = 36km / (2/3 h)
  • ➤ Speed = 36km × 3/2 h
  • Speed = 54km/h

a. Long will it take to cover 180 km ?

  • Speed = 54km/h
  • Distance = 180km

As We Know That,

  • Time = Distance / Speed
  • ➤ Time = 180km / (54km/h)
  • ➤ Time = 180km × 1h/54km
  • Time = 3 1/3 h

As We Know That,

  • 1 h = 60 min
  • ➤ 1/3 h = 1/3 × 60 min
  • ➤ 1/3 h = 20 mins

Therefore,

  • The Time taken is 3 hours and 20 minutes.

b. Far will it travel in 3 hours ?

  • Speed = 54km/h
  • Time = 3 hours

As We Know That,

  • Distance = Speed × Time
  • ➤ Distance = 54km / h × 3h
  • Distance = 162km

Therefore,

  • The distance travelled in 3 hours is 162km.
