initial velocity (u) = 60 km/hr or 16.67 m/s
final velocity (v) = 40 km/hr or 11.12 m/s
time (t) = 5 seconds
to find : acceleration
here we go
solution :
by using first equation of motion
v = u-at ( we are using negative sign before acceleration because body is retarding)
11.12 = 16.67-5a
5a = 5.55
a = 1.11 m/s²
