acceleration=(final velocity-initial velocity)/Total time taken

Here,

initial velocity=80m/s

final velocity=60m/s

Total time taken=10s

Therefore,

acceleration=(60m/s - 80m/s)/10s

= -20/10

= -2 m/s square

Therefore the retardation is 2m/s square...
