Given

Speed = 36km/ hr

Distance = 500m

Both should have same unit so convert speed or distance.

Speed = 36km/hr

As we know,

1km = 1000m

And

1 hr = 3600s (60 \times 60)s

So, divide the given value by (60 \times 60)s and multiply it with 1000

\dfrac{36 \times 1000}{60 \times 60}

Speed= 10m

To Find:-

Time = ?

Solution

Formula to find time if distance and speed is given.

Time=\dfrac{Distance}{Time}

Put the given values..

Time= \dfrac{500}{10}

Time = 50s

Additional Information

▪Distance is the path travelled by an object.

▪Speed is the distance travelled by an object in unit time.

Formula to find Speed.

Speed= \dfrac{Distance}{Time}

Formula to find Distance.

Distance=Speed \times Time

Given:-

  • Speed of the bus (v) = 36 km/h [Consider uniform] = 10 m/s
  • Distance to travel = 500 m

To Find: Time taken in the journey.

We know,

t = s/v

where,

  • t = Time taken,
  • s = Distance travelled,
  • v = Speed.

∴ t = (500 m)/(10 m/s)

→ t = (50)/(1/s)

t = 50 seconds

Time it'll take is 50 seconds.
