a bus increases its speed from 36km/h to 90km/h in 10 sec and stops in 5 sec after applying brakes . calculate acceleration in both cases .

Here is the answer.

U = 36kmph = 36×5/18 m/s = 10m/s

v = 90kmph = 90×5/18m/s = 25 m/s

t = 10 s

As, v = u + a t

so, 25 = 10 + a × 10

so, a = 1.5 m/s^2

Again , u = 90kmph = 25 m/s

v = 0 m/s as it stops after breaking

t = 5 s

So, v = u + a t

or, 0 = 25 + a × 5

or, a = - 5 m/ s ^2
