Given :

  • Initial velocity (u) = 0 [ Started from rest ]
  • Acceleration of bus (a) = 2m/s²
  • Final velocity (v) = 32 m/s

To find :

  • Time is taken to pick up a velocity of 32m/s

Solution :

  • According to the first equation of motion

→ v = u + at

Where,

  • v = final velocity
  • u = initial velocity
  • a = acceleration
  • t = time

According to the question

  • Substitute all the values

→ v = u + at

→ 32 = 0 + 2 × t

→ 32 = 2t

→ t = 32/2

→ t = 16 sec

•°• Time is taken to pick up a velocity of 32m/s is 16 sec.

Focus Zone :

  • S.I unit of speed and velocity = m/s
  • S.I unit of time = second
  • The rate of change in velocity is known as Acceleration.

Answer:

Given :-

  • A bus initially at rest starts moving with an acceleration of 2 m/s² and the velocity is 32 m/s.

To Find :-

  • What is the time.

Formula Used :-

By using first equation of motion we know that,

{\purple{\boxed{\large{\bold{v =\: u + at}}}}}

where,

  • v = Final velocity
  • u = Initial velocity
  • a = Acceleration
  • t = Time

Solution :-

Given :

  • Final velocity = 32 m/s
  • Initial velocity = 0 m/s
  • Acceleration = 2 m/s²

According to the question by using the formula we get,

\sf 32 =\: 0 + 2 \times t

\sf 32 =\: 2 \times t

\sf \dfrac{\cancel{32}}{\cancel{2}} =\: t

\sf 16 =\: t

\sf\bold{\red{t =\: 16\: seconds}}

\therefore The time in which it picks up a velocity of 32 m/s is 16 seconds .
