A bus is moving at a speed of 10 m/s is stopped by applying brakes which produce a uniform acceleration of 0.5 m /s^2 .How much distance will it covered by the bus before its stops ?

Solution: Using equations of motion,

we get v = u + at

t = -u/a = -10/-0.5 = 20 s

s = ut + 1/2 at^2 = 10*20 - 1/2 (0.5*20^2) = 200 - 100 = 100 m
