A bus is moving with a speed of 72km/h can be stopped by brakes after atleast 10m.what will be the minimum stopping distance,if the same bus is moving at a speed of144km/h? from maritnation

Distance 2aS = v^2 - u^2, where v=final velocity, and u=initial velocity;

taking S = 10m, and u = 72km/h;

20a=0-5184

Therefore,

a = -5184/20

= -259.2 m/s^2

So, when u = 144km/h,

2*259.2*S = 20736

and S = 20736/518.4

= 40m.
