A bus is travelling at a speed of 60 km/hour. On seeing a boy 11 m ahead on the
road, the driver of the bus applies brakes and the bus stops at a distance of 10 m.
What is its retardation and how long does it take to come at rest?

Answer:

a= (-14.45)m/s^2

t= 1.2 second.

Explanation:

HELLO DEAR,

Given : Initial speed of bus, u= 60km/h = 17 m/ s (approx)

Final speed of bus v= 0m/s

Distance to reach after retardation = 10m

To find retardation and time taken to came at rest.

Solution: By using Newtown equation v^2 = u^2 + 2as

(0)^2= (17)^2 + 2a×10

0 = 289 +20a

a= -289/20

a= -14.45 m/s^2

So, retardation ,a= (-14.45m/s^2)

By using Newtons equation

v=u+at

0= 17+ (-14.45)t

t= -17/-14.45

t= 1.2 second (approx)

I HOPE IT'S HELP YOU DEAR,

THANKS.
