Step-by-step explanation:

Let the bus will take x hours

Speed = 90km/hr Speed=120km/hr

Time taken = 2 hours Time = x

On analysing the situation we can easily understand that it is inversely proportional because when one unit increases (speed) the second unit ( time ) will decrease.

90 km/hr * 2 hr= 120km/hr * x

180km/hr² = 120km *x

180km/hr²÷120km/hr =x

1.5 hr = x

therefore the bus will take 1.5 hours.

Speed = 90km/hr Speed = 50 km /hr

Time =2hrs Time = x

Here the speed decrease so the bus will take more time that means it is inversely proportional

90km/hr *2hr = 50km/hr * x

180km/hr² = 50km/hr *x

180km/hr² ÷ 50 =x

3.6 hrs =x

So the bus will take 3.6 hrs

Given data : A bus moving at a speed of 90 Km/h requires 2 hours to reach city A from city B.

To find :

  • How much time would it requires if speed is 120 Km/h ?
  • How much time would a car travelling at the speed of 50 Km/h require to reach the city A from the city B?

Solution : A/C to question;

  • Speed of the bus = 90 km/hr
  • Time taken by bus = 2 hour

Firstly we have to find out distance between city A to city B. Now by formula of speed.

➜ speed = distance/time

➜ 120 = distance/2

➜ distance = 120/2

➜ distance = 60 km

A/C to question;

To find out, time taken by bus to cover 60 km distance between city A to B at 120 km/hr. So now

Here

  • speed = 120 km/hr
  • distance = 60 km

➜ speed = distance/time

➜ 120 = 60/time

➜ time = 60/120

➜ time = 1/2 hour

Similarly, a/c to question, to find out, time taken by bus to cover 60 km distance between city A to B at 50 km/hr.

Here

  • speed = 50 km/hr
  • distance = 60 km

➜ speed = distance/time

➜ 50 = 60/time

➜ time = 60/50

➜ time = 6/5 hour

Answer : Hence, the time required by bus at 120 km/hr to cover distance between city A to city B is 1/2 hour and the time required by bus at 50 km/hr to cover distance between city A to city B is 6/5 hour.

More info :

  • 1/2 hour = 1/2 * 60 minutes
  • 1/2 hour = 30 minutes
  • 30 minutes = 30 * 60 second
  • 30 minutes = 1800 second
  • 1 hours = 3600 second

and

  • 6/5 hour = 6/5 * 60 minutes
  • 6/5 hour = 6 * 30 minutes
  • 6/5 hour = 180 minutes
