Answer:

Given :

▪ Initial speed of bus = zero

▪ Final speed of bus = 50kmph

▪ Time interval = 5min

To Find :

▪ Acceleration of the bus

Concept :

✏ Acceleration is defined as the ratio of change in velocity to the time interval.

✏ It is a vector quantity.

✏ It can be positive, negative and zero.

Conversion :

▪ 1kmph = 5/18mps

▪ 50kmph = 50×5/18 = 13.89mps

▪ 1min = 60s

▪ 5min = 5×60 = 300s

Calculation : a = v - u / t

a = 13.89 - 0 / 300

a = 0.05ms^-2

Solution :

Given :

▪ Initial velocity of bus = zero

▪ Final velocity of bus = 50kmph

▪ Time interval = 5min

To Find :

▪ Acceleration of bus during the entire journey.

Concept :

✒ Acceleration is defined as the ratio of change in velocity to the time interval.

✒ It is a vector quantity.

✒ It can be positive, negative and zero.

Mathematically,

a = (v - u)t

  • a denotes acceleration
  • v denotes final velocity
  • u denotes initial velocity
  • t denotes interval of time

Conversion :

✏ 1kmph = 5/18mps

✏ 50kmph = (50×5/18)mps

✏ 5min = 5×60 = 300s

Calculation :

⏭ a = (v - u)/t

⏭ a = (v - 0)/t

⏭ a = (50×5)/(18×300)

⏭ a = 250/5400

a = 0.046m/s^2 ≈ 0.05m/s^2
