☞Given :

  • Initial velocity = zero (i.e., rest)
  • Acceleration = 0.5m/s²
  • Time of journey = 10s

☞To Find :

  • Distance covered by bus in the given interval of time.

☞Concept :

➠ Since, acceleration has said to be constant throughout the motion, we can easily apply equation of kinematics to solve this question.

✭ Second equation of kinematics :

s = ut + (1/2)at²

where,

  • s denotes distance
  • u denotes initial velocity
  • a denotes acceleration
  • t denotes time

☞Calculation :

⇒ s = ut + (1/2)at²

⇒ s = (0 × 10) + (1/2)[0.5 × (10)²]

⇒ s = 0 + (0.5 × 0.5 × 100)

⇒ s = 25m

Explanation:

a=0.1m/s 2

and t=2min=120s

(A)v=u+at=0+0.1×120

⟹v=12m/s

(b)s=ut+

21 at 2

⟹s=0+ 21

×0.1×(120) 2

⟹s=720m
