A bus starting from rest moves with uniform acceleration of 2ms^-2 for 2 minutes. Find a) the speed acquired, b) the distance travelled.

The bus starts from rest, therefore:

initial velocity (u) =  0 m/s

acceleration = 2 m/s²

time = 2 minutes = 120 seconds

a) final velocity = initial velocity + (acceleration * time)

   v = 0 + 2 x 120

   v = 240 m/s

b) distance = ut + 1 / 2 x at²

    s = 0 + 1 / 2 x 2 x (120)²

    s = 14400 m = 14.4 km
