A bus starts from a depot filled to capacity. It stops at station a where 1/3 of the passengers alight and 30 board the bus. At station b 1/4 of the passengers alight and 12 board the bus. At station c which was the last stop all the 84 passengers alight. What is the capacity of the bus

Let number of passengers in the starting = x

Number of passengers after first halt = 23x+120

and number of passengers after second halt =

12(23x+120)+100

But number of passengers after second halt = 240

Therefore, 23x+120=280

23x=160

x = 240
