A bus starts from rest means the initial velocity of the bus is 0 m/s and attains a velocity of 36 km/hr in 5 sec.

From above data we have; u = 0 m/s, v = 36 km/hr and t = 5 sec.

We have to find the acceleration and distance travelled by the bus.

To convert km/hr into m/s multiply with 5/18.

⇒ v = 36 × 5/18 = 10 m/s

For acceleration:

Using the First Equation Of Motion:

v = u + at

Substitute the known values,

→ 10 = 0 + a(5)

→ 10 = 5a

→ 2 = a

Therefore, the acceleration of the bus is 2 m/s².

For distance:

Using the Second Equation Of Motion:

s = ut + 1/2 at²

Substitute the values,

→ s = 0(5) + 1/2 × 2 × (5)²

→ s = 0 + 1(25)

→ s = 25

Therefore, the distance covered by the bus is 25 m.

Answer:

Acceleration = 2 m/s²

Distance travelled = 25 metres

Explanation:

Given :

  • Initial velocity = u = 0 m/s

  • Final velocity = v = 36 km/hr

  • Time taken = t = 5 seconds

To find :

  • Acceleration of the bus

  • Distance covered by the bus

Using the first equation of motion :

V=u+at

36 km/hr = 36×5/18 = 10 m/s

10=0+a×5

10=5a

a=10/5

a=2 m/s²

The acceleration of the bus is equal to 2 m/s²

Using the third equation of motion :

V²-u²=2as

10²-0²=2×2×s

100=4s

s=100/4

s=25 metres

The distance travelled is equal to 25 metres
