Solution
As the bus starts from rest, initial velocity of bus (u) = 0 m/s
Acceleration of bus(a) = 0.5 m/s²
Time (t) = 2 minutes.
= (2 × 60) s
= 120 s
☢ Using 1st equation motion :
● v = u + at
⇒ v = 0 + (0.5 × 120)
⇒ v = 0 + 60
⇒ v = 60 m/s
∴Velocity at the end of 2 minutes = 60 m/s
☢ Using 2nd equation motion :
● s = ut + ½ at²
⇒ s = (0 × 120) + ½(0.5 × 120²)
⇒ s = 0 + ½(0.5 × 14400)
⇒ s = ½(7200)
⇒ s = 3600 m
∴ Distance covered by bus = 3600 m
