A bus starts from rest with an acceleration of 5 m/s. A man who is on motorcycle 24 m behind the bus, overtakes the bus in 2 s. If the motorcyclist moves with uniform velocity, find his velocity

Explanation:here, the distance travelled by the bus in 2 seconds is given by

S= ut+ 1/2 at^2   Since u is 0, S = 1/2 at^2

Which is equal to 1/2 * 5*2^2=10m.

Also, since the motorcycle is 24 m behind the bus total distance that the motorcycle has to travel will be 24+10=34 m.

Then, velocity = 34/2= 17 m/ s
