During first 4 s
S = ut + 0.5at²
48 m = (0 m/s × 4 s) + (0.5 × a × (4 s)²)
48 m = (a × 8s²)
a = 6 m/s²

Velocity at the end of 4s is
v = u + at
= 0 m/s + (6 m/s² × 4 s)
= 24 m/s

Now, for rest of the journey
a’ = (v² - u²) / (2S)
= (0² - 24²) / (2 × 24)
= -12 m/s²

∴ Deceleration of bus is 12 m/s²
