In two hours the bus totally travels = ( 40+60 ) = 100 km

∴ The speed of the bus = (100 ÷ 2 ) = 50 km/hr

[ Hint : speed = distance covered by a body / time ( Unit : km/hr or m/sec ) ]

The speed of the bus is 50 km/h.

Explanation:

Given that, a bus travelled the first 40 km of journey in one hour and the next 60 km in next hour. We need to find the speed of bus. It is given by total distance traveled divide by total time taken.

Here, total distance is 40 km + 60 km = 100 km

Total time taken, t = 1 h + 1 h= 2 h

The speed of the bus is :

v=\dfrac{d}{t}\\\\v=\dfrac{100\ km}{2\ h}\\\\v = 50\ km/h

So, the speed of the bus is 50 km/h. Hence, this is the required solution.
