Initial velocity [u] = 126 km/hr = 126 * 5/18 m/sec
= 35 m/sec
Final velocity [v] = 0 m/sec
Distance traveled before coming into rest [s] = 200 m
Acceleration [a] = ?
According to equation of motion =
v^2 - u^2 = 2as
SO, a = v^2 - u^2 / 2s
= 0^2 - 35^2 / 2*200
= 0 - 1225 / 400
= - 3.0625
THEREFORE, retardation is 3.0625.. { or } acceleration is -3.0625...
