We know that ,

If the distance increases ,time taken increases in same proportion.

So time taken and distance varies directly, for the same speed .

 \begin {tabular} { | c | c | c | }</p><p>\cline {1-3} Distance travelled (x) &amp; 540 km &amp; 980 km\\</p><p>\cline {1-3} Time taken (y)  &amp; 9 hours &amp; ? \\</p><p>\cline {1-3}</p><p>\end {tabular}

 So, \frac{x_{1}}{y_{1}} = \frac{x_{2}}{y_{2}},\\Here , \: x_{1} = 540 , \: y_{1} = 9 ,\\</p><p>x_{2} = 980 , \: y_{2} = ?

 By \: substituting , \\\frac{540}{9} = \frac{980}{y_{2}}

 \implies y_{2} = \frac{980 \times 9 }{540} \\= \frac{49}{3} \\= 16 \frac{1}{3} \:hours

Therefore.,

 \green { The\:bus \:travels \:980 \:km \:in \:16 \frac{1}{3} \:hours }
