Average Speed = Total distance travelled
-------------------------------
Total time taken
= 120 + 120
--------------------------
(120/40) + (120/30)
= 240
--------------
3 + 4
= 240 / 7
= 34.2 KMPH
-------------------------------
Total time taken
= 120 + 120
--------------------------
(120/40) + (120/30)
= 240
--------------
3 + 4
= 240 / 7
= 34.2 KMPH

Heya mate!!!!!!!
In first case:
distance= 120 km
speed= 40 km/ hr
time = 120÷40
= 3 hrs.
In second case:
distance= 120 km
speed = 30 km/ hr
time = 120÷30
= 4 hrs.
Total distance covered= 120+120
=240 km
Total time taken = 3+4
= 7 hrs.
Average speed= Total distance covered ÷ total time taken
Average speed = 240÷ 7
= 34.28 km/ hr.
Hope it helps!!!!!!
