A bus was moving with a speed of 54km/h. On applying brakes, it stopped in 5 seconds.

Calculate (a) the acceleration and (b) distance travelled before stopping.​

Acceleration= -3m/s^2  distance= 7.5m

Explanation:

54km/h= 54*5/18 = 15m/s

accl. = del.v/ del. t

= -15/5

= -3 m/s^2

s=ut+1/2 at^2

=15*5+1/2*(-3)*(5)^2

=45+1/2*(-3)*(5)^2

=7.5 m
