The businessman incurred a loss percentage of 13.46%

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Total number of eggs bought = 5 dozen = 5 x 12 = 60 eggs

Cost of each dozen of eggs = 52

Total cost of the eggs = 52 x 5 = 260

The cost of each egg = 260 / 60 = 4.33

The number of eggs that are broken = 10

The number of eggs remaining intact = 60 – 10 = 50

The total amount he obtained after selling 50 eggs = SP x No. Of eggs

                                     = 4.5 x 50

                                      = 225

Thus, since he obtained a lesser amount than that he had spent, he faced a loss of 260 - 225, i..e, Rs 35

The loss percentage = Loss incurred x 100 / Cost Price

                     = 35 x 100 / 260

                      = 13.46%

The businessman incurred a loss percentage of 13.46%
