The rock cycle is a concept used to explain how the three basic rock types are related and how Earth processes, over geologic time, change a rock from one type into another. Plate tectonic activity, along with weathering and erosional processes, are responsible for the continued recycling of rocks.

Answer:
One type of rock changes to another under specific conditions in a cyclical manner. This process of transformation of rocks from one to another is known as the rock cycle. When molten magma cools, it solidifies to become igneous rocks are broken down into smaller particles that are transported and deposited to form sedimentary rocks. When igneous and sedimentary rocks are subjected to heat and pressure, they change into metamorphic rocks, which are still under heat and pressure melt down to form molten magma. This molten magma cools down to form igneous rocks, and so the cycle repeats.
