(a) calcium carbonate reacts with aq.HCl to give CaCl2 and C02 according to the reaction

CaCO3 (s) + 2HCl ?(aq) → CaCl2 (aq) +CO2 (g) +H2O (l)

What mass of CaCO3 is required to react completely with 25 ml of 0.75 M HCl ? (3M)

(b) calculate the percentage of different elements present in Na2SO4 ?

Explanation:

a) from given data, millimols of HCl = 18.75

2 moles of HCl require 1 mole of CaCO3,

then, 18.75 millimoles require 9.37 millimoles of CaCO3.

weight of 9.37 millimoles of CaCO3 = 9.37 × 100=937 mg

b)Total mass of Na2SO4 =142

% of Na = 32.4%

% of Na = 32.4% % of S = 22.5%

% of Na = 32.4% % of S = 22.5% % of O = 45%
