The compound is Ca(OCl)2 which is calcium oxychloride.

The gas produced is Cl2 that is chlorine gas.

the reaction is as follows

ca(OCL)2 + co2      =    caCO3 + cl2

                (from air)     (calcium

                                   carbonate)
