Solution :-

a) Here,

R1 and R2 resistors are connected in parallel

The resistance of R1 = 7 ohm

The resistance of R2 = 6 ohm

Therefore,

Resistance of both the parts connected in parallel

1/R in parallel = 1/R1 + 1/R2

Put the required values,

1/R in parallel = 1/7 + 1/6

1/R in parallel = 6 + 7/42

1/R in parallel = 13/42 ohm

Now,

Total resistance = R in parallel + R3 + R4

Put the required values,

Total resistance = 13/42 + 8 + 10

Total resistance = 13 + 336 + 420 / 42

Total resistance = 769 / 42

Total resistance = 18.30 ohms

Hence, The total resistance is 18.30 ohms

2) Here,

we have to calculate the reading of ammeter

Therefore,

As we know that ,

V = IR

Here, V = 12v , I = ? ,

As we know that,

Ammeter is always connected in series combination but here ammeter is connected with R3 and R4 resistor

R = R3 + R4 = 8 + 10 = 18 ohm

V = IR

I = V / R

I = 12 / 18

I = 0.6A

Hence, The ammeter reading is 0.6A.
