Water equivalent of the calorimeter is 300 gram.

Given-

  • Temperature of 75 gram of water = 15 °C
  • Temperature of 50 gram of water = 100 °C
  • Temperature of the mixture = 25 °C

Let water potential be W.

So W =mC

According to the conservation of energy heat lost by water at 100 °C is equals to heat gained by water at 15 °C plus heat gained by calorimeter.

By substituting the values we get

50 × 1 × (373 -298) = 75 × 1 × (298 - 288) + w × 1 × (298 - 288)

18650 - 14900 = 750 + 10 w

10 w = 3750 - 750

10 w = 3000

w = 300 gram
