Camels are mammals which have long legs, a humped back and a big-lipped snout. Camels are of two types Bactrian camels which have two humps and Dromedary camels having one hump.

The humps of camel consists of stored fat, which they metabolize during the scarcity of water and food.  When water and food are in scarce, they extracts energy from the stored fat.

When the hump is full of water it works handy for the camel as these bulges are stored with fat. The hump of the camels gets deflated if they go without eating or drinking for longer periods. The condition of the hump can soon change into plump if they are given adequate food and water.
