Answer:

Let x soldiers join the the camp after 17 days

The quantity of food remains the same

50 x 2200

Food consumed by 2200 soldiers in 17 days is 2200 x 17

remaining food

50 x 2200- 17x 2200

=33 x 2200

NOw x soldiers joined the cam due to which the food has been consumed in 20 days only

33 x 2200 = 20 x (2200 +x)

x=1430

Answer: 1430 soldiers joined the camp later.

Step-by-step explanation:

- Solution

Remaining days = 50-17

=33

∵ In 33 days, food can be eaten by 2200 soldiers

∵ In 33 days, food can be eaten by 2200 × 33 soldiers

∵ In 20 days food can be eaten by 2200 × 33 / 20 soldiers

(after solving this, you get 110 × 33)

=110 × 33

=3630

Required number of soldiers who joined later = 3630 - 2200

=1430
