Given

  • ⅕ of the work is done by A in 12 days
  • ⅙ of the work is done by B in 15 days

To find

  • In how many days A and B can do together

Solution

  • Whole work done by A = 12 × ⁵⁄₁ = 60 days
  • Whole work done by B = 15 × ⁶⁄₁ = 90 days

  • A's 1 day work = ¹⁄₆₀
  • B's 1 day work = ¹⁄₉₀
  • (A + B)'s 1 day work = ¹⁄₆₀ + ¹⁄₉₀ = ⁵⁄₁₈₀ = ¹⁄₃₆
  • Whole work done by A and B = 36

☯ ∴ Both A and B can together do the work in 36 days.
