Given
- ⅕ of the work is done by A in 12 days
- ⅙ of the work is done by B in 15 days
To find
- In how many days A and B can do together
Solution
- Whole work done by A = 12 × ⁵⁄₁ = 60 days
- Whole work done by B = 15 × ⁶⁄₁ = 90 days
∴
- A's 1 day work = ¹⁄₆₀
- B's 1 day work = ¹⁄₉₀
- (A + B)'s 1 day work = ¹⁄₆₀ + ¹⁄₉₀ = ⁵⁄₁₈₀ = ¹⁄₃₆
- Whole work done by A and B = 36
☯ ∴ Both A and B can together do the work in 36 days.
