a can do a piece of work in 20 days while b can do it in 15 days. they begin together and worked it for 5 days. then, i fell ill and b had to complete the remaining work alone. in how many days was the work completed

In 1 day A does 1/20 work

In 5 days A will work 5/20 = 1/4

Similarly in 5 days B will do 5/15 = 1/3 work

So in 5 days A and B will complete 1/4 + 1/3 = 7/12 work. So work remaining =

1 - 7/12 = 5/12

B does 1/15 work in 1 day

So B will 5/12 work I'm 15×5/12 days = 25/4 = 6 + 1/4 days
