Let total works =x

A takes 24 days to complete x

⇒ In one day a complete work =

24

x

B completes x works in 30 days

⇒ In 1 day B completes work =

30

x

If A and B work together,

work done in one day =

24

x

+

30

x

=

120

5x+4x

=

120

9x

=

40

3x

Let they take n days to complete entire work.

⇒ Total work =n×

40

3x

=x

⇒n=

3

40 days

hope it's helpful to you.....

Step-by-step explanation:

Time taken by A to finish work =24 days

Time taken by B to finish the work= 30 days

work done by A in 1 day=1/24

Work done by B in 1 day=1/30

Work done by(A+B) in 1 day= (1/24+1/30)= 9/120= 3/40

Time taken by (A+B) to finish the work= 40/3 days

Hence, both can finish the work in 40/3 days
