C can do a piece of work in 48 hours.

Step-by-step explanation:

A can do a piece of work in 24 hours.

One hour work of A = \frac{1}{24}

B can do a piece of work in 16 hours.

One hour work of B = \frac{1}{16}

A, B and C working together can finish it in 8 hours.

One hour work of A, B and C together = \frac{1}{8}

Let C can do a piece of work in x hours.

One hour work of C = \frac{1}{x}

One hour work of (A + B + C) = One hour work of A, B and C together

\frac{1}{24}+\frac{1}{16}+\frac{1}{x}=\frac{1}{8}

\frac{1}{x}=\frac{1}{8}-\frac{1}{24}-\frac{1}{16}

\frac{1}{x}=\frac{6-2-3}{48}

\frac{1}{x}=\frac{1}{48}

After reciprocal we get

x=48

Therefore, C can do a piece of work in 48 hours.
