Answer: B's share = Rs. 581.25

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :

A can do a piece of work in 25 days.

B can do a piece of work in 20 days.

Rs. 750 is paid for completing the job.

Solution :

∴ Work done by A in 1 day = \frac{1}{25}

∴ Work done by B in 1 day = \frac{1}{20}

∴ Work done by them together in 1 day= \frac{1}{25} + \frac{1}{20} = \frac{9}{100}

∴ Work will be completed by both A and B in 100/9 days.

⇒ Work done together in 5 days = \frac{9 * 5}{100} = \frac{9}{20}

∴ Work left = 1 - \frac{9}{20}  = \frac{11}{20}

∴ Work done by A = \frac{9}{40}

∴ Work done by B = \frac{11}{20}  + \frac{9}{40} = \frac{22 + 9}{40}   = \frac{31}{40}

∴ A's share = \frac{9*750}{40}  = Rs. 168.75

∴ B's share = \frac{31 * 750}{40}  = 581.25
