Question:

A can do a piece of work in 30 days while B can do the same work in 24 days. In how many days can they complete it, if they work together.

Answer:

40/3 days

OR

13 days and 8 hours

Solution:

It is given that;

A can do a piece of work in 30 days.

Thus,

One day work of A = 1/30

Also,

B can do the same work in 24 days.

Thus,

One day work of B = 1/24

Now,

=> One day work of A and B together

= One day work of A + One day work of B

=> One day work of A and B together

= 1/30 + 1/24

= (4+5)/120

= 9/120

= 3/40

Thus,

Time required by A and B to complete the work together = 40/3 days

= (13 and 1/3) days

= 13 days and 1/3 days

= 13 days and 24/3 hours

= 13 days and 8 hours

Hence,

The time required by A and B to complete the work together is ; 40/3 days

OR 13 days and 8 hours.

Question :-

Given above ↑

Answer :-

→ They both complete that work in 13days and 8 hours.

To find :-

→ Days in which they complete work.

Explanation :-

According to the question,

A can do a work in 30 days ,

→ A can do work in a day = 1/30

The work done by B in 24 days .

hence ,B do the work one day =1/24

If they work together in a day ,

therefore ,

→ work by A in a day + work by B in a day

 \implies \:  \frac{1}{30}  +  \frac{1}{24}  \\  \\  \implies \:  \frac{4 + 5}{120}  =  \frac{9}{120}  = \frac{3}{40}

Hence both will do that work a day= 3/40

means ,

Work done by both = 40/3 days

→ 13⅓days

→ 13 days and 8 hours ( because in a day 24 hours hence its 3/4th is 8 hour.)
