Answer:

6 days

Explanation:

A = 40 days

B = 60 days

total work =( LCM of 40 and 60) = 120

a day's work of A = 120/40= 3

a day's work of B = 120/60= 2

if A and B work together then work complete in 120/5 = 24 days

A left the work before 4 days ...

so A and B work together for 20 days ....

work done = 20 × 5 = 100

work left = 120-100 = 20

20 work done by B

20/2 = 10 days ....

so extended time = 30-24 = 6 ..(answer)
