Given :

☞ A can do the work in = 5 days.

☞ B can do the work in = 10 days.

☞ B worked for = 5 days.

According to the question :

☞ Let's take the total work as ' 1 '

A's 1 day work = 1 / 5.

B's 1 day work = 1 / 10.

B worked,

=> 5 × 1 / 10

=> 1 / 2.

Remaining work = Total work - B's work

=> 1 - 1 / 2

=> 1 / 2

A can do 1 work in 5 days.

So, A can do 1 / 2 ( remaining work ) in,

=> 1 / 2 × 5. ( LCM = 2 )

=> 1 / 2 × 10 / 2. ( cancel 2 and 10 )

=> 5 / 2

=> 2 1 / 2.
