A can do a work in 80 days implies he can do 1/80th part of a work in 1 day. so if he works for 10 such days.. he would complete 10"1/80th part of work I e 1/8th part of work.
work remaining= 7/8th
b completes 7/8th work in 42 days.
dividing both the sides by 7, we get
b can complete 1/8th if his work in 42/7=6 days
now multiplying by 8 on both sides we get,
b can complete the full work alone in 6×8=48 days.
so b can complete 1/48th part of work in 1 day.

when a and b work together in 1 day they can do a work of 1/80 + 1/48 = 1/30
so both together can complete 1/30th part of work in 1 day.
which implies if they work together they can complete the work in 30 days

ruprekha11: can u explain that what is boyle's law
praneeth06: yea its simple 3 things to remember here... 1. if gas is an ideal gas. 2.when temperature is maintained constant 3. when the 1st and 2nd Condition exist, the pressure if the gas is inversely proportional to the temperature of the gas.
praneeth06: i.e when the first 2 conditions are satsified.. as the pressure of a gas is increased the volume of it decreases and vice versa
ruprekha11: thank you dada
praneeth06: any time..

Hi friend...
Here is your answer

SOLUTION ==
A completes in 10 days 10/80 or 1/8 of the work.

The remaining work 7/8 is completed by B in 42 days.

Therefore, to complete the whole work B would take (8/7)*42 =48 days.

Now, if A and B work together, they can complete in (80*48)/(80+48) = 30 days

I hope it will help you
