Work done by A in 1 day = 9/1

Work done by B in 1 day = 18/1

Work done by B in last 3 days = 18/1 × 3= 6/1

Remaining work= 1 − 6/1

= 6/5

Work done by A and B in 1 day =

9/1 + 18/1 = 18/3

= 6/1

Hence no. of days in which A and B worked together is = 6/1

=5 days

Then total time to complete the work =3+5=8 days.
