no \: of \: hours \: a \: can \: do \: work = 7 \times 9 \\ \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: = 63 \: hours \\ part \: of \: work \: done \: by \: a \: per \: hour \: = \frac{1}{63} \\ no \: of \: hours \: b \: can \: do \: work \: = 6 \times 7 = 42 \: hrs \\ part \: of \: work \: done \: by \: b \: per \: hour = \frac{1}{42} \\ total \: work \: done \: by \: a \: and \: b \: per \: hour = \frac{1}{42} + \frac{1}{63} \\ \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: = \frac{5}{126} \\ no \: of \: days \: a \: and \: b \: at \: 8\frac{2}{5} hours \: a \: day \: = \frac{ (\frac{5}{126})^{ - 1} }{8 \frac{2}{5} } \\ \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: = \frac{126}{5} \times \frac{5}{42} = 3 \: days
