Question :

A can do a piece of worrk in 25 days and B can finish it in 20 days. They work together for 5 days and then A leaves. In how many days will B finish the remaining work?

Answer :

11 days.

Explanation :

Let B take x days after A leaves.

As A and B work together for 5 days, so we have,

5/25 + (5+x)/20 = 1

Taking LCM, we get,

=> 20 + 5(5 + x) = 100

=> 20 + 25 + 5x = 100

=> 45 + 5x = 100

=> 5x = 100 - 45

=> 5x = 55

=> x = 55/5

=> x = 11

Therefore, B can finish the remaining work in 11 days.

Given :---

  • A can do a piece of work in = 25 days.
  • B cab can do same work in = 20 days.
  • They work together for = 5 days.

To Find :---

  • in how many days will B finish the remaining work ?

Solution :---

**Lets Try to Solve the Problem with LCM Method .**

→ LCM of 25 and 20 = 100 units = Let Total work.

So,

→ Efficiency of A = 100/25 = 4 units / day.

→ Efficiency of B = 100/20 = 5 units /day.

Now, it has been said that they both work together for 5 days.

So,

→ in 5 days both complete = 5 * (4+5) = 45 unit of work.

So, work left = 100 - 45 = 55 unit.

Now, this work is done by B Alone.

So,

B will take = 55/5 = 11 days.. (Ans).

Hence, B finish the remaining work in 11 more days..
