A can do a work in 2 days
A in 1 day does: 1/2 work
B can do a work in 3 days
B in 1 day does: 1/3 work
In 1 day:
1/2 + 1/3 = 5/6 work
1 day== 5/6 work
X days == 1 work
X = 6/5 days.
Total amount = 100 Rs. (for 6/5 day's work)
A's share: 6/5 * 1/2 * 100 = 60 Rs.
[A worked for 6/5 days and in 1 day he does 1/2 work, so in 6/5 days, he does 6/5 * 1/2 work]
Similarly B's share = 6/5 * 1/3 * 100 = 40 Rs. [or 100-60 = 40 Rs.]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alternatively:
Total work = Total efficiency * Days
Total work = L.C.M (2,3) = 6
Efficiency of A = 6/2 = 3
Efficiency of B = 6/3 = 2
Tot efficiency= 5----100
1----100/5 = 20
A's share= 3 parts = 3*20 = 60 Rs.
B's share= 2 parts = 40 Rs.
Hope it helps
