To get time take by B alone to complete the work this is what is done

Let time taken by B=x days

Therefore time taken by A=x-5 days

Time taken by both is=100/9 days

We form the equation below

x+x-5=100/9

2x-5=100/9

2x=100/9+5

The next step is finding LCM  of 9 and 1 which is 9,since

5 is the same as 5/1 as a fraction

2x=(100+45)/9

2x=145/9

To get x divide both sides by 2

 Time taken by B alone ,x=145/18 days
