A can of milk is 3/4 full. when 12litr of milk is drawn from it, it becomes 5/12 full . find its capacity.

3x/4-12=5x/12
3x/4 -5x/12=12
(9x-5x)/12=12
4x=144
x=36ltr is capacity

let the capacity of the can be x....
thus,
initially the colume of milk = 3x/4

volume of milk drawn out = 12 ltr

final volume of milk = 5x/12
