(1) The area of the canal 1 m wide along 24 m long 15 m wide field is 82 sq m

(2) The cost of constructing the canal at the rate of Rs. 12 per sq m is Rs. 982

Step-by-step explanation:

Length of the field = 24 m

Width of the field = 15 m

Width of the canal = 1 m

Area of the canal

= Area of the field including canal - Area of the canal

=(24+2)(15+2)-24\times 15

=26\times 17-24\times 15

=442-360m^2

=82m^2

Cost of constructing the canal per sqm = Rs. 12

Cost of constructing the whole canal

=82\times 12 Rs.

=982 Rs.

Answer: 1) The area of canal is 82 m²

2) Cost f constructing the canal is Rs.  984

Step-by-step explanation:

Length of field= 24 m

breadth of field= 15 m

width of canal = 1 m

As we know area of rectangle = l x b where l is length and b is breadth

required area = area of field along canal - area of field

area = (24+2)(15+2)- 25\times 15  = 26\times 17 - 24\times 15 = 82m^2

Cost of 1 m² = Rs. 12

Cost of 82 m²= Rs. 12 x 82 = Rs. 984

Hence the required area is 82m² and the cost of constructing the canal is Rs. 984
